Licences of Five Medical shops suspended in Bijbehara for violating drug regulations

Srinagar: The Drug Control Department on Monday suspended the licences of five medical shops in Kanelwan, Bijbehara, for violating provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

Officials said that a team of Drug Control Officers, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Drug Controller, Anantnag, carried out inspections of several chemist establishments in Bijbehara to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

During the inspections, operations of Rather Pharmacy, Friends Pharmacy, Naikoo Medical Store, Wani Chemists and Druggists, and Care N Cure Pharmacy were disallowed for failing to maintain mandatory records as required under the law.

The inspection team also sensitized chemists about the importance of maintaining proper sales records and directed them to issue cash memos to patients for every purchase without fail. Officials said the department is committed to ensuring strict adherence to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act across the district.
