Rajnath Singh meets cloudburst survivors at GMC Jammu

Says, PM Modi very concerned, monitoring situation

Srinagar: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday visited Jammu to review the situation following the recent cloudburst in the Chashoti village of Kishtwar district that left 64 people dead.

An official told KNO that due to adverse weather conditions, he could not travel to the cloudburst-affected site in Chashoti.

“Instead, he visited Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, where he met with cloudburst survivors who admitted there. He inquired about their condition and the treatment being provided to them,” he said.

The cloudburst, which occurred on August 14, triggered flash floods in Chashoti village, leaving at least 65 dead while over 34 remain missing.

Speaking with reporters, Rajnath Singh said he came to meet the injured of Chashoti incident. “PM Modi is very concerned and monitoring the situation. Due to bad weather I could not reach the spot. All patients here are out of danger and recovering well. I appreciate the doctors for their dedication,” he said.

The defense minister was also accompanied by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor Manoj Sinha. (KNO)
