Rising Waters in south Kashmir; Flood threat looms

Srinagar: The water level in Vishow Nallah is rising steadily amid relentless rains across the Kulgam belt, with officials warning it may cross both the Flood Declaration and Danger Marks within the next 4–8 hours.

Heavy downpours are expected to continue across South Kashmir till morning, heightening fears of possible inundation in low-lying areas.

Acknowledging public anxiety, Kashmir Weather said it is likely that water levels will breach the Flood Declaration mark. “How much further the levels will rise depends on overnight conditions and tomorrow’s weather.

A detailed update will be shared in the morning,” the advisory noted.
