Jammu, July 8: Thakur Rakesh Singh Manhas, National General Secretary of Shri Hindu Takht and In-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh Union Territory, and Himachal Pradesh, paid a courtesy visit to Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two discussed the expansion of Shri Hindu Takht’s social and religious initiatives across Jammu & Kashmir, with particular emphasis on creating awareness among the public and protecting young people from the growing menace of drug abuse through large-scale awareness campaigns.

Thakur Rakesh Singh Manhas highlighted that the increasing prevalence of substance abuse has emerged as a serious challenge for society, especially for the younger generation. He stressed that social, religious, and cultural organisations have a greater responsibility to guide youth towards constructive paths by encouraging nation-building, community service, and adherence to India’s cultural and spiritual values.

He also briefed the Lieutenant Governor about the various programmes being undertaken by Shri Hindu Takht in the areas of social welfare, religious awareness, national service, and the promotion of moral values among youth. The discussion also covered proposed initiatives, including anti-drug awareness campaigns, youth interaction programmes, and religious and social events across different parts of Jammu & Kashmir.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha appreciated the organisation’s efforts to safeguard young people from drug addiction and underscored the need for coordinated societal action to address the issue. He assured that if Shri Hindu Takht organises welfare, social, or awareness programmes in the interest of society and youth, the administration would extend all possible support in accordance with established rules and procedures.

The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides emphasising the importance of collective efforts to promote social harmony, national interest, youth empowerment, religious awareness, and the vision of a drug-free Jammu & Kashmir.
