Srinagar, Feb 14, KNT: A Civil Court in Srinagar has issued summons in connection with an original suit filed by Zahid Bashir against Ghulam Qadir Ganaie, related to defamation case amounting Rs 3 crore directing the defendant to appear before the court later this month.
The summons has been issued by the Court of Ms Preet Simran Kaur, 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge designated as Additional Judge Family Court Srinagar, in Original Suit (OS)/233/2026.
As per the court order, the defendants, Manzoor Ahmad Wani of Jhoome Budgam, Naider Gund Peer Bagh Srinagar, Rehana Farooq and her husband Farooq Ahmad of Budgam have been directed to appear in person or through a duly instructed pleader on February 26, 2026 at 10:30 am to respond to the claim.
The court has also instructed the defendant to file a written statement of defence on the scheduled date and produce all relevant documents in his possession or control in support of his defence, including any claim for set off or counter claim. The order further states that any additional documents relied upon must be listed and annexed to the written statement.
The summons makes it clear that failure to appear on the stipulated date may result in the suit being heard and determined in the absence of the defendant.
The notice also informs the parties that they may seek court summons for witnesses if required and deposit the necessary expenses for their appearance. In case of admission of the claim, the defendant has been advised to deposit the amount along with costs to avoid execution of any decree against person or property.
