Ajas Tehsil Residents Allege Delays, Repeated Reverts in Online Revenue Services

0
Bandipora, Jan 21, KDC: Citizens in Tehsil Ajas of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are facing repeated delays in receiving land record documents, alleging that online applications for Extract of Girdawari are being reverted even after two weeks, despite applicants completing formalities and paying the prescribed fee online.
Residents said the Revenue Department’s online system, meant to ensure citizen-friendly delivery of services, is instead forcing applicants into a cycle of waiting and resubmitting, with no clear timeline for disposal.
A portal screenshot accessed by Kashmir Dot Com shows an application under Tehsil Ajas where the payment status is marked “Paid”, but the service request remains pending, while the system also displays an “App Submission Date / Resubmit Date” — indicating that applications are being pushed back for resubmission rather than being processed to completion.
Locals alleged that in many cases, applications remain pending for nearly two weeks and are then reverted, compelling citizens to visit the tehsil office repeatedly and restart the process.
“We are applying online and paying the fee, but after waiting for days, the application is reverted. It wastes time, money, and effort,” said an applicant, adding that people are being forced to make multiple rounds of the office.
Residents said the delay is affecting urgent requirements such as bank loans, land verification, inheritance cases, and other revenue-related work, especially for those who cannot afford repeated travel and loss of daily wages.
“Digitisation was supposed to end harassment and bring transparency, but the ground reality is different. If an application is reverted, the portal should clearly mention the reason and the official responsible,” another local said.
The citizens have demanded that the district administration and Revenue Department intervene to ensure time-bound disposal, proper accountability, and an explanation mechanism so applicants are not kept waiting for weeks only to be sent back into resubmission.
Officials from the concerned office were not available for immediate comment. (KDC)

Crime Branch Kashmir Cracks Fake Appointment Order Racket, Probe On

0

Srinagar, Jan 17, KNT: The Economic Offences Wing of Crime Branch Kashmir has registered a criminal case against an individual, a former police employee, for allegedly cheating and duping innocent people on the pretext of providing government jobs.

Officials said the case was registered after the Economic Offences Wing, Srinagar, received a written complaint from multiple complainants who accused the individual of fraudulently collecting around Rs 23 lakh by promising them government employment. The accused allegedly assured the victims of confirmed jobs and, in return, took substantial sums of money from them.

According to the complaint, the accused went to the extent of issuing fake appointment orders to make the fraud appear genuine. He is also accused of supplying forged documents, including fake identity cards, licenses, appointment letters, and fabricated police and CID verification reports, to gain the trust of the complainants.

Following the receipt of the complaint, the Economic Offences Wing initiated a preliminary probe to verify the allegations. During the inquiry, officials found the claims to be prima facie substantiated. The investigation revealed that the accused had allegedly devised a systematic method to cheat job aspirants by exploiting their desperation for government employment and issuing forged documents under false assurances.

Officials said the accused succeeded in extracting large sums of money from the complainants, misrepresenting his capacity and influence to secure government jobs. The money, investigators believe, was collected over a period of time through repeated false promises and fabricated paperwork.

Taking cognizance of the findings of the preliminary probe, the Economic Offences Wing registered a formal case at Police Station EOW, Srinagar, under Sections 420, 467, 468, and 471 of the Ranbir Penal Code. These sections relate to cheating, forgery, and the use of forged documents as genuine.

The accused is now under investigation, and officials said further probe is underway to identify additional victims, trace the money trail, and ascertain whether more individuals were involved in the racket. [KNT]
