Israel Revises Advisory Asking Its Nationals To ‘Leave Immediately’ Kashmir Region

 

Jerusalem, May 8: Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Israel has updated the existing travel advisory for its nationals urging those in the Kashmir region to “leave immediately”.

The revised advisory came on Wednesday after the Indian military carried out strikes against terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) and Pakistan’s Punjab province earlier in the day.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry called on Israelis to avoid visiting the Jammu and Kashmir region, with the exception of Ladakh.

Israelis currently in Kashmir should “leave immediately” and obey the instructions of local security forces, the ministry said.

This is in line with the existing travel advisory issued by the National Security Council, it added.

India launched Operation Sindoor early Wednesday hitting nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province of Pakistan in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack that killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Pakistan army said 31 people were killed and 57 others injured in the Indian missile strikes launched shortly after midnight.
Separately, at least 13 people, including four children and a soldier, were killed and 57 injured as the Pakistan army carried out one of the most intense artillery and mortar shelling in years targeting forward villages along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir after the Indian missile strikes. Vehicular Movement Suspended on Jammu-Srinagar Highway Due to Mudslide

 

Srinagar, May 8 : Traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) has been halted from both sides due to a mudslide at Chamba Seri in Ramban district on Thursday.

The traffic control unit informed that the highway remains blocked as of 7:30 AM, and the weather in the area is rainy, making road clearance difficult, an official told news agency JKNS.

Commuters have been advised not to travel on the highway until the weather improves and the road is cleared, they said.

Admin Advises People Of Karnah To Stay Indoors As Precautionary Measure

 

Srinagar, May 7 : Authorities on Wednesday urged general public of Karnah to stay indoors due to prevailing situation.

In a handout to GNS, a goverment spokesman said that In view of the prevailing situation , the general of Sub Division Karnah is requested not to assemble outside on roads, streets & Shops etc. People are advised to stay indoors & refrain from venturing out.

Further people are requested to not to park their vehicles along road sides (particularly on congested roads).

Besides this the construction material dumped along road sides may kindly be lifted immediately. Any one found violating the instructions shall be dealt seriously, reads the statement.(GNS)

Srinagar airport closure disrupts Hajj travel plans for J&K pilgrims, 2 flights cancelled

 

Srinagar, May 07 : Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Jammu and Kashmir Haj Committee has officially cancelled two scheduled Hajj flights for today and tomorrow, severely disrupting travel plans for hundreds of pilgrims.

Executive Officer J&K Haj Committee, Dr Shujhat Ahmad Qureshi, confirmed to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that Hajj flight initially scheduled for today has been cancelled due to the ongoing closure of Srinagar airport.

“Due to the prevailing situation, operations are temporarily suspended. The situation is assessed, but we had high chances of cancellation – which has now been confirmed,” Dr Qureshi said.

Two flights scheduled for May 7 and 8 have been cancelled. The revised schedule, as per the Hajj panel’s notification, will be communicated accordingly.

“There was only one flight with 320 pilgrims scheduled to depart from Srinagar to Madina today. As of now, there is no update on when services might resume. The closure of the airport and growing security concerns have left us with little clarity regarding upcoming schedules,” Dr Quershi said—(KNO)

Not in favour of war, present situation triggered by Pakistan: CM Omar

 

Srinagar, May 07 : Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that nobody is in favour of war and that Pakistan needs to lower their guns as the prevailing situation was triggered by them by killing 26 people in Pahalgam.

The Chief Minister, as per news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that the present situation is an outcome of Pahalgam attack on April 22.

“We had to give a befitting reply. The central government had decided to attack the camps of those who devastated J&K for many years. It was decided to target the terror areas not military and civilian installations,” he said.

He added that Pakistan has now targeted the civilian areas. “We don’t want a war. We were living peacefully. It was started by them. We want to improve again, but Pakistan needs to silence their guns first,” he said—(KNO)

Kashmir University Postpones All Exams Scheduled for Today

 

Srinagar, May 7 : Kashmir University has announced the postponement of all examinations slated for today, May 7, 2025, in view of the prevailing situation.

According to a notification issued by the Assistant Controller of Examinations (Conduct) a copy of wgich lies with news agency JKNS reads, All the examinations scheduled for today i.e, 07.05.2025 stand postponed.

Fresh date for the conduct of postponed papers shall be notified separately, it reads.

The announcement comes as several districts across Jammu and Kashmir witness heightened tensions, prompting precautionary measures including the closure of educational institutions some districts across UT. (JKNS)

3 Civilians Killed After Heavy Shelling In Poonch Sector

 

Jammu, May : At least three people were killed after Pak resorted to heavy shelling in the Poonch Sector on Wednesday.

Officials told GNS that during overnight heavy shelling by Pakistan in the Poonch area, three people were killed and also forest office Poonch are destroyed.

The three deceased have been identified as Mohd Adil son of Shaheen Noor, Saleem Hussain son of Altaf Hussain and Ruby Kour wife of Shallu Singh.

Army also also in a statement said that During the night of 06-07 May 2025, Pakistan Army resorted to arbitrary firing including Artillery shelling from posts across the Line of Control and IB opposite J&K.

Three innocent civilians lost their lives in indiscriminate firing/shelling. Indian Army are responding in proportionate manner.

Meanwhile, in the backdrop of Pahalgam attack, India during early hours of Wednesday has striked inside PoK and Pakistan at various places against terror sites.

In a statement a Defence spokesman said that altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted. Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution. These steps come in the wake of the barbaric Pahalgam terrorist attack in which 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen were murdered. CM Omar to meet PM Modi in Delhi today

 

New Delhi, May 03: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the National Capital on Saturday evening.

According to(KNO) this will be Omar Abdullah’s first meeting with PM Modi after the April 22, Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 innocent people, mostly tourists dead.

NIA Questions Lashkar OGWs in Kot Balwal Jail Over Pahalgam Terror Attack Link

 

Jammu, May 3 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has intensified its probe into the recent Pahalgam terror attack by questioning two overground workers (OGWs) of the Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba. Nissar Ahmed and Mushtaq Hussain, currently lodged in Kot Balwal Jail in Jammu, are under the scanner for their suspected involvement in facilitating the Pahalgam assault.

Both individuals were previously arrested for providing logistical support to terrorists in connection with the deadly attacks in Dhangri (Rajouri) and Bhatta Durrian (Poonch) in 2023, which claimed several lives and drew nationwide condemnation.

According to sources, fresh intelligence inputs have indicated a possible link between the duo and the perpetrators of the Pahalgam attack. The NIA is probing whether they coordinated or facilitated movement, shelter, or supply chains for the attackers.

Investigations are ongoing, and further interrogations are expected as part of the broader crackdown on terror networks operating in Jammu and Kashmir.(CNS)

Boat capsize: Body of missing youth recovered from Dal Lake

 

Srinagar, May 03 : The body of a youth who went missing after a boat capsized in Dal Lake near Duck Park on Friday afternoon was recovered on Saturday morning by rescuers from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF).

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that the body of the missing youth, a resident of Chopan Mohalla in Rainawari, was found after a night-long suspension of rescue operations due to poor visibility.

He said the body was found after the search operation was resumed with the first light in the morning. He was identified as Taufeeq Ahmad Chopan, 24, a resident of Chopan Mohalla in Rainawari, Srinagar.

Earlier, the boat had overturned amid gusty winds, throwing two fishermen into the water. While one of them, Abdul Majeed Khosa of Rainawari, was rescued shortly after the incident, Chopan could not be traced despite multiple attempts on Friday.—(KNO)
