Anantnag, April 11, 2026: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Anantnag arrested six alleged drug peddlers in multiple operations across the district, recovering significant quantities of narcotics.
In Shangus, a raid at a residence led to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of around 5.75 kg of ganja. Another आरोपी was apprehended at Sangam Chowk with 140 grams of charas.
During a naka checking at Bumzoo KP Road in Mattan, police recovered 5.24 kg of charas powder from one person. In a separate operation in Uttrasoo, another accused was arrested with over 2.2 kg of ganja.
In a major breakthrough, police also conducted a warrant-backed search in Manzigam, recovering approximately 17.27 kg of charas-like substance (bhang bhoosa) along with 23 grams of charas.
All cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, and further investigations are underway.
Police have reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating drug abuse and urged the public to assist by sharing any information related to drug peddling.
