Kulgam, April 9: In a show of unprecedented public enthusiasm, thousands of people gathered in Kulgam to warmly welcome former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and President of the Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mehbooba Mufti, during her visit today. The massive turnout reflected strong public support and renewed energy among party workers and supporters.
Addressing the gathering, Ms. Mehbooba Mufti welcomed the recent ceasefire between Iran and Israel, terming it a significant and positive step towards peace and stability. She reiterated that war has never been a solution and emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through sustained dialogue and meaningful engagement.
In her address to party workers, she urged them to remain united, resilient, and steadfast in the face of ongoing challenges. She stressed the importance of strengthening grassroots connections and actively engaging with the people to address their concerns while upholding the party’s core ideology.
Recalling the vision of the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, she reiterated his timeless guiding principle:
“Neither by bullets nor by force, solutions will come through dialogue (Na goli se, na grenade se, baat banegi boli se).”
She emphasized that this philosophy continues to be the most relevant path for ensuring peace and stability in Jammu & Kashmir.
The event also witnessed significant political developments, with many social activists and workers from the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference joining the PDP. Prominent among them were renowned social activist Zulfikar Razatullah of Devsar, along with his supporters, joined JKPDP.
Adv. Aijaz Ah Shan of Kulgam and former Sarpanch Gulshana Parveen from Noorabad , along with dozens of others who joined the party, expressing confidence in its vision and leadership.
The meeting was attended by senior party leaders including Party Vice President Mohammad Sartaj Madni, General Secretary (organization)Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura, Former Minister Abdul Rehman Veeri, Former Minister Nayeem Akhtar, District President Kulgam Wani Zafrullah, Gulzar Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Amin, and other senior party functionaries.
Ms. Mufti highlighted the need for collective efforts to promote peace, unity, and development, reiterating that the PDP has consistently stood for these principles. She called upon party workers to stay closely connected with the people and spread the message of harmony, brotherhood, and progress across the region.
She concluded by expressing her heartfelt gratitude to the people and party workers of Kulgam for their overwhelming support and commitment, describing it as a great source of strength and encouragement for the party moving forward.
