Bandipora, April 12, KNT: A menstrual hygiene awareness and sanitary pad distribution program was held at SAM School, Aloosa in Bandipora, organized by Eva Safety Door Association in collaboration with Baala Group.
The program witnessed participation from a large number of students, with organizers describing the response as encouraging. The session focused on creating awareness about menstrual hygiene and promoting healthy practices among young girls.
The initiative aimed to address awareness gaps around menstruation, emphasizing hygiene, health, and social understanding, particularly in educational settings.
During the session, speakers discussed various aspects of menstrual hygiene, highlighting the importance of maintaining cleanliness and good health during menstruation. They also addressed physical and emotional changes experienced during the menstrual cycle, including mood swings and hormonal imbalances, and shared guidance on managing them.
The speakers also touched upon the subject from both scientific and Islamic perspectives, underlining the importance of personal hygiene and awareness. Emphasis was laid on the role of family support, with speakers urging family members to be understanding and supportive towards women during menstruation.
As part of the program, sanitary pads were distributed among the participating students.
Irfana Zargar, Chairperson of Eva Safety Door Association, who led the initiative and was present on the occasion, expressed gratitude to the students, school staff, and participants for their cooperation. She also acknowledged the efforts of her team members in organizing the program.
Zargar said such awareness programs would continue in the future with the aim of promoting menstrual hygiene and improving women’s health awareness in the region. [KNT]
