Anantnag Police Bust Drug Racket, Seize Over 13 Kg Charas; Six Arrested

 

Anantnag, April 16: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, police in registered five cases and arrested six alleged drug peddlers in multiple operations across the district, recovering over 13 kilograms of charas and 12 grams of heroin.

Acting on specific intelligence, a team from Srigufwara Police Station raided a residence in Dachigam Srigufwara and recovered approximately 2 kilograms of charas-like substance. A case was registered under relevant provisions of the .

In separate naka checking operations at Shakras and Pethnoo Crossing, police apprehended two individuals and recovered around 2 kilograms of charas from each of them. Legal proceedings have been initiated in both cases.

In another operation, police intercepted a passenger auto at Iqbal Market near Mill Mod, leading to the arrest of two persons. During the search, approximately 12 grams of heroin was recovered, and a case was registered at Police Station Anantnag under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Meanwhile, in a separate कार्रवाई at K.V Pora Marhama, a police team from Sangam Police Post apprehended one individual and recovered a substantial quantity of approximately 7.854 kilograms of charas from his possession.

Police said further investigations are underway in all cases. Reiterating its commitment to combating the drug menace, the district police urged citizens to come forward with information to help curb narcotics trafficking and safeguard the youth.
