Aru (Pahalgam): A grand Independence Day flag-hoisting ceremony was organised at the JKTC Ground in Aru Pahalgam district Anantnag on the morning of 15 August, drawing enthusiastic participation from the entire village community.
Research Assistant FSPS Aru, Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Gilkar, hoisted the National Flag at 8:30 a.m. The event was marked by the presence of senior officers including the Captain of the Army, Assistant Commandant of 116 Battalion CRPF, Deputy Commanding Officer of ITBP, ASI SOG, Manager of JKTC, and the Principal of High School Aru, underscoring the strong civil-military and community coordination in the area.
The entire Aru village turned out in large numbers and actively participated in the celebrations. The village was fully decorated for the occasion, creating a vibrant and patriotic atmosphere. School children presented a cultural programme featuring patriotic songs and performances that reflected the spirit of the day.
Soon after the flag hoisting, a Tiranga Yatra was organised in which nearly 100 horses participated, further amplifying the sense of national pride among the residents.
CRPF and ITBP extended valuable support by providing refreshments and presenting awards to the school children, adding to the success and festive spirit of the programme.
The event at JKTC Ground Aru successfully brought together security forces, local administration representatives, school authorities, and the village community in a unified observance of India’s Independence Day.
