Anantnag, April 22:In a major enforcement drive, the Drugs Control Department in Anantnag carried out intensive inspections across several areas of the district, leading to the closure of four non-compliant medical shops.
The অভিযান covered Lazibal, Sarnal, Cheeni Chowk, Sirgufwara, and adjoining localities, with the aim of ensuring strict adherence to the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and curbing the misuse of prescription drugs with addiction potential.
During the drive, around 15 medical establishments were thoroughly inspected. Officials scrutinized records related to the sale of prescription drugs to identify any irregularities, leakage, or unauthorized dispensing.
Four medical shops were found violating norms and were closed on the spot under Section 22(d) of the Act. The establishments include: Kanroo Pharmacy (Lazibal), ALL MS Medicate (Sarnal KP Road), Murad Medicate (Sarnal KP Road), and Atif Medical Shop (Cheeni Chowk, Anantnag).
The department reiterated its zero-tolerance stance against violations, warning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone compromising public health standards. Authorities also emphasized that such drives will continue across the district to ensure the availability of safe, standard, and quality medicines.
The public has been urged to cooperate and report any suspicious or unlawful pharmaceutical practices to help safeguard community health.
