Srinagar, May 12, KNT: Srinagar Police on Tuesday attached a residential house and land worth around ₹1.2 crore belonging to an alleged drug peddler in the Hazratbal area of the city.
Police said the attached property comprises a double-storeyed residential house along with land situated at Gasoo Hazratbal.
The property belongs to Maqsood Hussain Khan, son of Abdul Majeed Khan, a resident of Banday Lane, Hazratbal, and presently residing at Gasoo, Hazratbal, officials said.
Srinagar Police carried out the attachment through Police Station Nigeen under Section 68(F)(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
According to police, the action is linked to FIR No. 42/2023 registered under Sections 8/20, 21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Nigeen and FIR No. 20/2025 registered under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Ganderbal.
Officials said investigations revealed that the property had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit drug trafficking activities.
Through the attachment order, authorities have restrained the owner from selling, leasing, transferring, altering or creating any third-party interest in the property.
Police described the action as part of its intensified campaign against narcotics networks and illegal assets allegedly generated through drug trade in the Valley.
Srinagar Police reiterated its commitment to eliminating the menace of drugs from society and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to narcotics trafficking and peddling activities.
The anti-drug campaign has witnessed multiple property attachments, arrests and seizures across Kashmir in recent months as authorities intensify efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks. [KNT]
